Toyota Boshoku, a Japanese company member of the Toyota Group, is very active on the development of automotive interior systems; manufacturing and sales of automotive interior products; development of motor related parts. As a main supplier of Toyota Motors, its developments are linked to the Toyota Motors strategy that aims for less energy use. Therefore one of Toyota Boashoku goal is to make parts lighter in order to improve the fuel economy and also to reduce the amount of CO2 emissions, without compromising parts quality.
As results of this collaboration with M&F Technology and Toyota Boshoku, successful developments were achieved :
- door trim base material and seat back board base material that was 20% lighter in weight compared to the conventional parts
- air cleaner case, realized a 10% reduction in weight and a 20% reduction in the amount of CO2 emissions in comparison to the conventional air cleaner case
Of course Toyota Boshoku efforts go farther as they also dramatically improve the technique for molding and forming the MF compound.
